Veer Privacy Policy

Last updated: 14 October 2026

Veer is a weather app published by Clearpoint Studios. It is free, has no accounts, no ads and no analytics. This policy lists what leaves your phone so Veer can show the weather, and what stays on it.

The short version

To fetch a forecast, Veer sends the coordinates of the place you are looking at, rounded to about 1 km. Place search sends the name you typed. Both go through a small relay we run on Cloudflare to the free weather service Open-Meteo. No account, name, device identifier or advertising identifier goes with them. Everything else stays on your phone.

What stays on your device

Uninstalling Veer or clearing its data removes all of it. Removing a place in the app removes its stored forecast too.

Location

Veer asks for approximate location only, and only while the app is open. It never reads your position in the background. If you deny the permission, you can search for cities instead and the app works the same way. Your position is used to pick the place to show and to fetch its weather. It is rounded to about 1 km before it leaves the phone.

Weather and place search

Forecasts, air quality and place search go to veer-weather, a relay Clearpoint Studios runs on Cloudflare Workers, which forwards them to Open-Meteo. The relay only passes on the fields a forecast needs, rounds coordinates to two decimal places, and keeps recent answers in Cloudflare's edge cache so the same 1 km cell is not fetched twice within a few minutes. Request logging is switched off on the relay. Open-Meteo receives the rounded coordinates or the search text from the relay, never your IP address. Its policy: open-meteo.com/en/terms.

Radar and maps

The radar tab loads radar images from RainViewer and map tiles from Esri. Like any map, these servers see your IP address and which map tiles your phone asks for, which reveals the area you are looking at. Nothing else is sent to them. The requests stop when you leave the radar tab.

Other apps from the studio

The More tab lists other Clearpoint Studios apps. To show which of them are already on Google Play, Veer checks their store pages with a plain request to play.google.com that carries no data about you.

Feedback

Send feedback opens your own email app with a message addressed to us. Nothing is sent until you send that email yourself, and we only receive what you write plus the app version in the subject.

Permissions

Data retention

Because Veer has no accounts and stores nothing about you on a server, there is nothing to request for deletion beyond your own emails. Uninstalling the app deletes everything it kept.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask us for access, correction, deletion, restriction and portability, and you can object to processing. Write to clearpointstudios@proton.me. You can complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

Veer is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
